MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling For Skin Rejuvenation

Microneedling is used to treat and improve conditions like acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, and pigment issues.

It’s also called skin needling, collagen induction therapy (CIT), and percutaneous collagen induction (PCI).

Most anyone can have the procedure performed as long as they do not have any active infections, lesions, or any known wound healing problems.

The PRP Facelift

Microneedling is typically performed in a series of four to six sessions, spaced about a month apart.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a highly concentrated autologous serum that is rich in growth factors and cytokines such as platelet-derived growth factor, transforming growth factor, insulin-like growth factor, and vascular endothelial growth factor. These growth factors regulate and induce cell migration, attachment proliferation, and differentiation as well as promote extracellular matrix accumulation. PRP and the induction of growth factors has been used specifically in the treatment of bony defects, wound healing, gastrointestinal surgery, and more recently in aesthetic dermatology.

This is a case of microneedling used in conjunction with topical PRP for facial rejuvenation.

PRP For Hair Growth

The process is meticulous — with injections beginning across the scalp, approximately at every half inch over the area of thinning hair — but typically, the entire procedure takes less than a half hour.

Risks involved.

It might sound scary (blood draws and needles?!), but for the most part, there's no real risk associated with PRP. "Most patients get injections without any numbing, as there is minimal discomfort,"However, cool air or ice packs may be used to minimize pain." In the event there is any discomfort, Tylenol after the procedure is also recommended. Bruising can occur but usually resolves within a week or two.
