Enlarged pores,
refined for every skin tone.

Why Pores Look Bigger

What makes pores
look bigger.

Pores have no muscles, so heat and steam cannot open them and cold water cannot close them. Three real factors change how large they look.

Oil & Buildup
A pore packed with oil and dead skin looks bigger. Clear it out and it looks smaller — which is why consistent cleansing and salicylic acid genuinely help.
Collagen Loss
As skin loses firmness with age, pores look more prominent. Collagen-supporting treatments improve this.
Genetics & Oily Skin
Larger pores are partly just how some skin is built, especially oilier skin types — the goal is managing how they look.
Melanin-Safe Protocols

Why deeper skin tones
need a different approach.

Pore treatments rely on exfoliation and collagen building — both of which can trigger dark patches on melanin-rich skin when they are too aggressive.

  • ✦Salicylic and mandelic acids, chosen for low darkening risk
  • ✦Microneedling — mechanical, not light-based — for lower darkening risk
  • ✦Laser settings calibrated to your skin tone
  • ✦Daily SPF to protect treated skin

Common Questions

Enlarged Pores FAQ.

Can pores be permanently shrunk?

No — pore size itself cannot be permanently shrunk. But how large pores look is very manageable: keeping them clear and supporting the collagen around them makes them look smaller.

Do steam and cold water open and close pores?

No. Pores have no muscles, so they cannot open or close. Warm water can soften what is inside a pore, which helps cleansing, but nothing literally opens or shuts them.

What ingredients help with large pores?

Salicylic acid, which is oil-soluble and works inside the pore; retinoids, which keep cells inside the pore from clumping and clogging; and niacinamide, which helps moderate excess oil.

Is there downtime?

The Hydro Body & Skin treatment has zero downtime. Microneedling causes redness like a mild sunburn for a day or two. Superficial peels usually mean mild flaking for a few days.

Are pore treatments safe for dark skin?

Yes, with the right choices. Microneedling is mechanical rather than light-based, so its darkening risk is lower, and gentle acids like salicylic and mandelic suit melanin-rich skin. Laser settings are calibrated to your skin tone.
