In Short

The PSRx Beard & Neck Program is a structured plan for razor bumps on the beard and neck. It starts with an assessment, then a series of Nd:YAG 1064nm laser sessions to reduce the hair that causes bumps, plus treatment for dark marks and scarring, and a maintenance plan. It's built for darker skin and tightly curled hair.

Who It's For

When shaving
keeps causing bumps.

The program fits anyone with bumps on the beard area or neck, whatever their shaving routine.

Daily shavers
If you shave for work and get bumps every time, the program focuses on reducing the hair that keeps growing back into the skin and causing bumps.
Neck and jawline bumps
Bumps often cluster on the neck and along the jawline, where hair grows at angles and catches on the razor. The program targets the area where your bumps form.
People with dark marks
Bumps leave dark marks that often outlast them by months. The program treats those marks alongside the hair, so your skin looks even as the bumps clear.
Women with chin or neck hair
Coarse chin and neck hair can cause the same bumps and dark marks. Hormonal factors, such as PCOS, are reviewed neutrally at your consultation before we start.
Is It Right For You?

Who it's for —
and who it isn’t.

A good fit if you…
✓You get bumps on your beard area or neck after shaving
✓You have dark marks or small scars from past bumps
✓You have tightly curled or coarse hair
✓You want a structured plan rather than one-off sessions
Not the right fit if you…
—You have light blonde, red or gray hair (laser works poorly on light hair)
—You have an active infection in the area (we treat that first)
—You have large or growing keloids (these are assessed separately)

Your provider confirms what's right for you at your consultation.

Melanin-Safe Protocols

A program designed
for darker skin.

Razor bumps hit people with tightly curled hair hardest, and laser for darker skin has to be done with real expertise. PSRx is an industry leader in laser care for Fitzpatrick IV–VI, and this program is built around that experience.

  • ✦Nd:YAG 1064nm laser, designed to reach the hair while sparing surface pigment.
  • ✦Dark marks and scarring treated alongside the hair, not after.
  • ✦Sun-avoidance prep and aftercare built for darker skin.
  • ✦We train and certify other providers in laser care for Fitzpatrick I–VI.
How It Works

Four stages,
one clear goal.

Each stage has a specific job, and your provider moves you forward as your skin responds.

Assessment
We check your skin type, hair, bumps, marks and keloid history, and map the treatment area before anything starts. You leave with a written plan for every stage of the program.
Nd:YAG 1064nm laser series
A series of laser sessions reduces the hair that causes bumps. Fewer, finer hairs means less hair growing back into the skin, and fewer bumps over time. Sessions are spaced so your skin recovers between visits.
Bump and mark control
Precise Peels and skincare calm active bumps and fade the dark marks they leave, using plans made for melanin-rich skin. This stage runs alongside your laser series, not after it.
Scar care
If years of bumps left small scars, they're treated with scar protocols matched to your skin. Raised scars and keloids are assessed with extra care, and referred out when specialist care is needed.
Maintenance
Some hair can return over time. Occasional touch-up sessions and a simple home routine help keep bumps from coming back after the main series. We'll tell you when a touch-up makes sense.

Common Questions

Beard & Neck Program FAQ.

What is the Beard & Neck Program?

The Beard & Neck Program is a structured PSRx plan for razor bumps on the beard and neck. It moves through four stages: assessment, a Nd:YAG 1064nm laser series, bump and mark control, and maintenance. It treats the hair that causes bumps and the marks and scars bumps leave behind.

How many sessions are in the program?

The number of laser sessions depends on your hair, your skin and the size of the treatment area, so your provider estimates it at your assessment and adjusts as your skin responds. Most people see fewer bumps as the series goes on.

Does the program work on Black skin?

Yes. The program is built around the Nd:YAG 1064nm laser, which is designed for darker skin because it reaches the hair follicle while sparing surface pigment. PSRx is an industry leader in laser care for Fitzpatrick IV–VI and trains other providers in this exact care.

Can I keep my beard during the program?

PSRx doesn't offer beard-line shaping. The program reduces hair across the area where bumps form, so it's built for people who want that area clear. If you'd like to keep a full beard, we'll talk through whether the program fits your goals at your assessment.

Will I have to stop shaving?

Most people keep shaving during the program, with some changes to how they do it. Your provider will give you specific shaving instructions to follow before and between sessions, so your skin stays calm and the laser can work. Your provider may also ask you to avoid plucking or waxing during the series.

Will razor bumps come back after the program?

Most people see far fewer bumps after the laser series, because there's less hair to grow back into the skin. Some hair can regrow over time, so occasional maintenance sessions may be needed. We set realistic expectations at your assessment.

Is the program only for men?

No. Women with coarse chin or neck hair often get the same bumps and dark marks, and the program works the same way. Hormonal factors such as PCOS are reviewed at consultation, and we recommend a medical check when it's needed.
