Colored tattoo removal,
planned ink by ink.
A colorful tattoo is a different removal project than a black one. Some colors fade quickly, others take patience, and the plan has to account for each one.
Multicolor tattoos are harder to remove than black ink, because each color responds to different wavelengths of light. Blues and greens can be stubborn, and some yellows, whites and pinks fade slowly. PSRx reviews every color at consultation and builds a plan around your inks and skin. Colored tattoos often need more sessions than black ink.
Every ink

Your provider looks at each color in your tattoo, because each one changes how your sessions are planned.

Multicolor Tattoo Removal FAQ.
Can colored tattoos be removed?
Yes, colored tattoos can be removed or significantly lightened, though they often take more sessions than black ink. Each color responds differently, and some blues, greens and light colors are stubborn. Your provider reviews every ink at consultation and gives you a realistic plan.
What tattoo colors are hardest to remove?
Blue, green, yellow, white and pastel inks are usually the hardest. Light colors reflect much of the light used to treat them, and blues and greens absorb it differently than black. Black and dark inks usually fade most predictably. Your provider reviews each color at consultation.
How many sessions does a colored tattoo need?
Most tattoos need 5–12 sessions spaced 6–8 weeks apart, and colored tattoos often fall toward the higher end. Size, ink amount, location and your skin all matter. Your provider uses Advanced Color Analysis at consultation to estimate your number. Stubborn colors may need extra time.
Can white ink tattoos be removed?
White ink is one of the harder colors to remove, and some white inks can darken when treated. That's why your provider may test a small area first. How white ink responds varies from tattoo to tattoo, so expectations are set at consultation.
Is colored tattoo removal safe on dark skin?
Yes, when it's planned for your skin type. Colored tattoos can need more sessions, so pacing matters even more on darker skin. PSRx specializes in laser care for melanin-rich skin and spaces sessions so your skin recovers fully and your natural tone is protected.
Can I lighten a colored tattoo for a cover-up?
Yes. Lightening before a cover-up typically takes 2–4 sessions and gives your artist a cleaner base to work with. Bright or stubborn colors may still show through slightly, so we'll talk with you about your artist's plans at consultation. Bring your design ideas if you have them.
